All About My Journey
Kim has been a dedicated Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) since 2014 but her passion and journey for overall health and wellness didn't start there. In her youth, she was very active and involved in many sports and activities until she found her passion with dance. Dance was her first study of the body and it’s movements, which also exposed her to minor common injuries and the rehabilitation process. As a young adult, Kim chose employment in health and wellness related fields such as athletic gyms, weight loss centers and spas, before stumbling onto the RMT path.
Years into her RMT practice she craved more knowledge of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, and clinical practice, for better understanding and more modalities she could utilize to help her patients. This inspired her to become a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT). From her own rehabilitation experience from a traumatic car accident, Yoga had been a vital piece in getting her physical body healed but also helped to reconnect her mind and spirit with the physical body. This experience granted her the gift of knowing how powerful a yoga practice could be as a tool for maintaining an overall sense of well-being and function. It also exposed her to Ayurvedic Medicine, the traditional medical system originating in India, where Yoga is a key component. With all this gained knowledge and experience, Kim also started teaching RMT students in 2019 to pay it forward and positively impact the massage industry.
Currently, Kim teaches both Yoga and RMT students while maintaining her private massage therapy practice in Steveston, BC, while also hosting community events from time to time. Kim loves empowering people to understand their bodies and find ways to help them heal or reach personal health and wellness goals while providing a safe and nurturing environment. She is always looking to integrate new treatment modalities based on evidence-based practice research and believes that continued education is important for keeping up to date with medical advancements and clinical practices.
Personally, Kim and her husband, Mark, keep busy raising their big, beautiful, blended family of 6. Having a family drives her even more to learn natural remedies for common ailments, the power of essential oils, mastering self-sustainability in the city and the importance of a well-rounded lifestyle, including nutrition, sleep, exercise, and play. You might find Kim out in nature hiking or tending to her garden, painting, walking around her community in Steveston, BC and catching sun rays whenever possible!
